The beginning
Their vision first came to life in the vibrant Manhattan district in 2004, where the two owners had an art gallery and hair salon space so they could experiment freely and hone their craft.
The first Coiffure had no sign, website, email, or business cards: John and Jen attracted clients by word-of-mouth. They earned a reputation for their unique, hyper-personalized haircuts.
My approach
For me, hair has never been just a service, it is a living art form. My journey began with a childhood immersed in arts, where I spent my early years winning competitions and even opening my own gallery. But while I loved the creativity of traditional art, I realized it lacked the one thing I crave most: human connection. I am a deeply social person who thrives on making people feel heard, confident, and beautiful. Transitioning my canvas to the beauty industry allowed me to bring those two worlds together. After years of building a dedicated clientele, including a busy mobile chapter where I brought styling right to my clients’ doors.
I opened this salon to create a welcoming, permanent home for my community. When you step into my salon, you aren’t just getting a hair transformation; you are collaborating on a custom piece of art designed to bring out the absolute best version of you.
